Known for a long time and clinically proven:

Hydroxyapatite is effective for hypersensitive tooth necks

introduction

Teeth that are sensitive to pain can have various causes. In all cases the patients suffer. There are several suggested therapy options that can also be implemented well in home dental care. These include mineral salts, which are increasingly found in toothpastes (potassium salts or strontium salts). The use of toothpastes containing hydroxyapatite is increasingly recommended for this indication. The exposed dentinal tubules (tooth tubules) are sealed with hydroxyapatite particles during the cleaning process.

Question

How effective is hydroxyapatite on sensitive teeth compared to two other special toothpastes for treating sensitive teeth?

material and methods

In this double-blind clinical study, a total of eight different dental care products were compared with one another. A total of 140 test subjects between the ages of 20 and 60 were recruited. Various tests were carried out on all subjects at the beginning and at the end of the study. These included: touch, cold, warmth, sweet / sour, draft. The entire study period was four weeks. All subjects filled out a questionnaire for each day in which the subjective feeling was stated.

Results

The results of this study show that over 90% of the test persons who used a toothpaste containing hydroxyapatite showed an improvement in pain sensitivity. Particularly in patients with a previous long history of illness, there was a clear improvement, which already occurred after 3-5 days.

conclusion

Hydroxyapatite, especially in the form of small crystals with a diameter of about 2 μm, is very effective in the treatment of pain-sensitive teeth. An improvement occurs after a short period of use.
